CTE was founded in 1977 at its present location on 30 Willow Springs Circle in York, Pa. Known formerly as Chronister Tool Engineering, the company was successful and grew because of a strong emphasis on engineering and the ability to attract and retain high caliber, top quality employees.

CTE Inc., a standalone manufacturer of dies and metal stampings, became a member of the Composidie group of companies when it was acquired from the former owner upon his retirement in 1998.

Composidie has been in the business of designing and building progressive carbide stamping dies since 1971. The company has grown through expansion and acquisition and now boasts varied capabilities in die design and extensive manufacturing facilities serving many diverse markets.

Today, manufacturing services are available through EDM Services and Toolex. Product finishing capabilities are offered through Leading Technologies, Inc specializing in assembly and reel-to-reel plating.
